A Christmas Organ Concert Jonathan Scott presents a special Christmas organ concert in the Victorian splendour of Rochdale Town Hall, showcasing the 'King of Instruments' in a dazzling programme of seasonal music.

Described as "The leading British Organist", Jonathan Scott is Organist at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall where he regularly performs to audiences of thousands. He is in demand as a concert soloist all over the world and is the only organist to have performed a solo organ concert at The Royal Albert Hall, London, for the 2024 BBC Proms.

The organ of Rochdale Town Hall is one of Jonathan's favourite organs, and he is excited to be returning to give a special festive concert on this amazing instrument.

Daily Tours of Rochdale Town Hall Enjoy a fascinating tour of Rochdale Town Hall, given by one of our very knowledgeable volunteer guides. Hear about the people who made the town hall, why it was built, the craftsmen responsible for its exquisite decoration and the building’s uses over time.

The tour lasts around 1 hour - 1 hour 15 mins and will take place across the building including our historic rooms. The town hall is fully accessible so lifts are available for visitors who want/need to use them.

Play the Rochdale Town Hall Organ The Binns organ is one of the most famous and iconic historic features of Rochdale Town Hall, described as a feature of national importance.

Constructed by J.J Binns of Bramley in Leeds, it is considered one of the organ builder’s finest works.

When made, the Rochdale organ was often compared with Binns’s equally fine 1912 organ in the Kingsway Hall in London, an instrument of very similar size and quality. But this organ has gone, leaving Binn's masterpiece at Rochdale in a class of its own.

Following extensive conservation works our organ has been brought back into commission, and is available for members of the public to play.

Organ hire is priced at £40 per hour. If you're a keen organ player and would like the opportunity to practice then please book a slot.

One performer per slot.

Please be aware that the Great Hall will be open to the public, as well as anybody you may choose to invite during your session.

Sail With Santa 2024 Take a magical boat trip with Santa this Christmas aboard Hollingworth Lake’s Lady Katherine!

Hop aboard Santa’s floating grotto, take a trip across beautiful Hollingworth Lake and post your Christmas list in the elf post box!

All children will get to meet Santa and receive a gift. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wrap up warm and dress appropriately for the weather. Attention all dance enthusiasts. We are thrilled to announce the return of our beloved Tea Dances in our Great Hall in partnership with Prima Dance. Join us as we waltz back into a cherished tradition, and let the rhythm of sequence dancing sweep you off your feet!
Starting on September 4th, the Tea Dance will fill the Grand Hall every first Wednesday of the month. From 1 PM to 3 PM, immerse yourself in an afternoon of joy and connection, as friends old and new come together to enjoy the magic of dance.
Prima Dances invites you to glide in harmony with your fellow dancers while executing the same routines, moving gracefully in an anti-clockwise direction around the room. Each step you take offers a chance to bond with others, making memories that linger long after the last note fades.
